OnCore ShotClub Social Project Revived

In 2019, OnCore was forced to pause development on a golf entertainment center due to the pandemic. For those of you who have been waiting, you’ll be happy to hear that this project has been recently revived with interest from Krog Group in Buffalo, NY. This story was first reported on by Lian Bunny at Buffalo Business FIrst:

“Plans for the proposed golf-anchored entertainment center in downtown Buffalo are starting to take shape. ShotClub Social Buffalo LLC recently revealed updates on the project including new renderings, a projected timeline and a key partnership. The project, called ShotClub Social Buffalo, calls for a 45,000-square-foot entertainment venue with golf driving range bays and fine casual in-seat dining at 555 Elk St., Buffalo. The center will be powered by OnCore Golf, a Buffalo-based golf technology company.

The team spearheading the project announced a partnership with the Krog Group, an Orchard Park-based construction services and real estate development company, to build the site. The partnership provides the “majority of investment required to allow conversations” to continue with governmental agencies and priority lenders, according to a press release.

Local developer Doug Swift, ShotClub Social Buffalo president, declined to disclose the exact investment amount. “We’re just generally very excited about the project and the fact that we are going to be creating what we see as one of the premier family destinations in Western New York,” Swift previously told Business First. “It’s a large-scale, complicated project.”

He said he hopes to break ground in the spring, and construction will take approximately 15 to 18 months. The entertainment center is being designed by Kevin Murrett, principal of Architectural Resources.

A similar project — a sports and entertainment-related complex in downtown Buffalo — was proposed in 2019, but then the pandemic hit.

News broke in August 2023 about the Elk Street plans when OnCore Golf, through an LLC, purchased a portion of 503, 623 and 635 Elk St. from Elk Street Commerce Park LLC for $946,450.

The ShotClub Social Buffalo team is also working on another ShotClub Social center in Knoxville.

The Buffalo entertainment center will include a full kitchen, multiple bars, duckpin bowling and arcade/amusement games, event spaces and simulators. There will also be 60 year-round golf driving range bays.
